Adverse Impacts of Endocrine-Disrupting Chemicals in Plastics, Personal Products, and Food: Considerations and Recommendations From an Academic Research Scientist

In this session, Dr. Emily N. Hilz from the University of Texas at Austin will discuss personal routes of exposure to environmental endocrine-disrupting chemicals (EDCs) with a focus on commonly encountered products, the chemicals they contain that drive endocrine-disrupting effects, and the current research and political/regulatory landscape surrounding these harmful chemicals. Dr. Hilz studies the metabolic, reproductive, and neurological impacts of EDCs and will discuss not only their health impacts, but also how retailers and shoppers can address this issue to improve human health in a proactive way.
