Building Credible Pet Joint Products: Clinical Evidence for PEA for Joint Pain
Pet owners are increasingly treating their animals like family, and they want joint health products backed by the same level of evidence they expect for themselves. Yet much of the companion animal supplement market still relies on extrapolated human data or limited animal studies, leaving brands, retailers and healthcare professionals with few clinically substantiated options.
This session presents results from a double-blind, randomised, placebo-controlled trial of Levagen+, a highly bioavailable palmitoylethanolamide (PEA) ingredient, in 50 dogs and 50 cats with chronic joint pain. The study builds on existing evidence for PEA in dogs and is the first clinical trial of PEA for feline joint pain.
Attendees will learn how these findings support product development and claims in the pet joint health category, how PEA compares with existing approaches, what dosing looks like across different body weights, and what healthcare professionals need to know when recommending PEA-based products to pet owners.
