Ann Armbrecht is the director of the Sustainable Herbs Program, an educational  program of the American Botanical Council supporting high quality herbal products, sustainable and ethical sourcing, and greater overall transparency in how herbs reach end users. Ann is an anthropologist (Harvard, PhD 1996) and writer. 

She is the author of the award-winning ethnographic memoir, Thin Places: a Pilgrimage Home and with filmmaker, Terrence Youk, she co-produced the documentary, Numen: the Nature of Plants. Her book, Following Herbs through the Supply Chain will be published by Chelsea Green Publishing in early 2020. She lives in Vermont with her family.
